Parents wishing to enroll their child in Lee Academy are asked to complete an application form and return it to the school along with a copy of a past report card (if applicable). Upon receipt of an application form, an interview and assessment will be scheduled with the teacher and director. Admission to Lee Academy is based on the interview and assessment as well as space availability. Lee Academy North (in Sheffield) may offer places as early as September, 2023 for JK and SK students. For more information on the enrolment process and tuition fees please follow the links or click on the menu on the left side of the page.
All students are required to wear the school uniform. We want the children to develop a sense of pride in their school as well as themselves. Further information is provided with our fee schedule.
Textbooks & Supplies
A fee is charged at the beginning of each school year to cover the cost of textbooks and materials, all of which Lee Academy will provide. This fee includes the use of school laptop computers as part of the students' programme.
The school day starts at 8:30 a.m. and finishes at 3:30 p.m. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:10 a.m. Buses leave the school at the end of the school day, 3:40 p.m., while students are met by parents from 3:40 to 3:50 p.m.
Lee Academy operates a bus programme to accommodate our principal geographical draw areas. This is only in the Dundas, Copetown and Ancaster areas currently. Information on the programme and its fees is provided on request. There are no transportation fees for those parents who choose to provide their own transportation for their children.
School holidays generally coincide with public school holidays. They usually occur at the following times during the school year: two to three weeks at Christmas and two weeks in March, beginning the second week of March. The school is closed on Thanksgiving, Easter Monday, and Victoria Day. A listing of school holidays is available well in advance of the upcoming academic year. The current year's calendar is available on the website (follow the link or click on the menu on the left).
No child may leave the property without parental permission. To ensure a safe, comfortable environment at Lee Academy, access to the building during the day is via the main entrance only. Visitors are asked to identify themselves at reception and wear a visitor's tag while in the school.
Each child must attend school in good health. All children must be immunized according to the Ontario Ministry of Health regulations.
Lee Academy is nondenominational.
Parents are requested to notify the school if their child is absent on a given day. A note in the child's daily agenda or a phone call from a parent/guardian excuses a student from class. Families wishing to extend their vacations or have their child absent for a long period of time are asked to discuss their plans first with the teacher in charge of their child's programme.
Parent Involvement Opportunities
At Lee Academy we believe that it is essential to be involved in and supportive of your child's education. There are many opportunities throughout the year to visit the school, meet the teachers and watch your child perform. Parents are encouraged to accompany us on class trips. We welcome parental suggestions. Parents wishing to observe or help in the classroom are welcome at any time. All regular volunteers must submit a police record check and sign in and out at our front reception.
How do I arrange a visit to the school?
Please call 519-647-9772 and speak with our director, Alison Will or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org
How much does it cost to send my child to Lee Academy?
Our fees remain very reasonable. Please refer to our fee information section on this website for a detailed account of all costs.
Do you belong to any associations?
Lee Academy is an independent school, privately owned and operated.
How do I know if my child will fit your programme?
It is our job to challenge and support all our students so that the programmes work for them. All students are assessed before entering the school and every opportunity is taken to help your child thrive at Lee Academy.
Are you a Montesorri school?
We are not a Montesorri school. Our academic programmes are rigorous and structured to have each student work to his/her potential.
Is there a lunch programme?
No. Students are able to heat up food brought from home. We offer a healthy afternoon snack programme for students included with enrollment. Students bring lunches from home on other days except for special occasion days once a month. (e.g. pizza day, sub sandwich day, etc.)
Do the students go on field trips?
Yes! We believe very strongly that students benefit from connecting what they are studying to the world at large. Every class goes on several trips throughout the year.
Do you have a library?
Yes! Named for our former governor, Hope Lee, the Hope Lee Library provides the students with access to several thousand titles.
Are your teachers certified?
Yes, all our teachers hold an Ontario B.Ed. or equivalent if trained internationally. Many teachers specialize and have additional qualifications in the subjects they teach.
How does the school communicate with parents?
Communication is very important at Lee Academy. The students carry agendas or binders with notes, forms and other important information to and from school each day. We use EDSBY, an online educational platform, as a reference and communication hub for all things related to Lee Academy and we regularly use email and telephone to communicate with parents and families.
How do I register my child?
Please refer to the 'Registration' page on our website detailing enrolment procedures. Thank you for your interest.
